Jeffrey Darnell's journey as a singer and writer began in his hometown of Nottingham, England, where from an early age his love of poetry became fused with his love of music.
Signed in the 90s to the now infamous Talkin Loud record label Jeff released several soulfully infused tracks including "Livin On The Edge" and the inspirational Nature's Crying a Japanese favourite and best seller which also features on the "Sounds Of London" compilation by Gilles Peterson on the Motor City and rated as original British soul by leading and respected Dj and writer Bob Jones.
It's been over 4 long years since Jeffrey received critically acclaimed reviews in Switzerland performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Then appearing live that same year supporting Soul legend "Terry Callier at London's famous Shepherds Bush Empire.
During this period Jeffrey has spent time performing in and around Europe returning to the studio in 2001 to record "All Around The The World" with The Love Theme, which featured on various compilation albums and their future classic "Late Nite Sex" on the Smokersblend record label.
Plus lending his vocals talents to the Atmoz project, which appeared on the ChinaWhite compilation LP and was one of the clubs favourite songs that year.
Having spent time away on his own personal journey Jeffrey has returned to the UK shores this year and back into the studio collaborating with Killa Benz on his forthcoming Album and recording and writing new material for a series of Mini E.P.s.
The first E.P "It Ain't Easy" will be followed by a 500 pressing limited addition 12 Inch featuring new song "Seen The Light". For a man that has persisted to fine tune his craft against the odds this is a more than apt title, tracks such as This Life We're In, Where Can I Go, Run Child Run and the title track, It Ain't Easy, are brought seamlessly together by the infamous beat master Dominic Owen as Jeffrey's vocals glide effortlessly in and out of the music and take the listener into an aural heaven of sound and feeling.Welcome to the new home of Jeffrey Darnell. Sex On My Mind
Jeff is currently in the studio working on the lead song for his next E.P. 'Sex
On My Mind' A limited Edition 12" will be with us at the end of this summer
with Killa Benz and Pee Lyve stepping up for the Re-Mixes. The E.P will follow
later this year.
Livin On The Edge Re-Released
The underground classic 'Livin On The Edge' has been re-released on 'Talkin
Loud Meets Free Soul-Part 2' Available on the Suburbia Label in Japan.
